Nigerian rising sprint star Favour Ashe will spend his final NCAA season as part of the University of Oregon Track and Field Team. After spending the past two seasons at Auburn University, Ashe announced his intention to transfer in mid-December and has found a new home in Eugene, Oregon just in time for the 2025 indoor season to start.

He began his collegiate career in 2022 at the University of Tennessee where he won the SEC Men’s 100m title as a first-year student-athlete. In 2023, he transferred to Auburn University, following his sprint coach Ken Harnden who was hired to their staff. He would spend the next two seasons ranked among the fastest in country, winning the SEC 60m title in 2023. As part of Nigeria’s national team, he was a Men’s 100m semi-finalist at the 2022 World Championships also held in Eugene and the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also recently set the record for most sub-10 second 100m sprints ever by a Nigerian with a grand total of seven.

Ashe will begin his final chance to make a mark on the NCAA under Oregon’s coaches Jerry Schumacher and Curtis Taylor who have produced multiple world class sprinters in recent years. The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held on his new home track, Hayward Field, where he will try to improve on his two 2nd place finishes. The speedster will also look to improve on his personal bests of 9.94 seconds in the 100m and 6.51 seconds.
